Valdosta school of ballet presents Sleeping Beauty

The Valdosta School of Ballet is performing “Sleeping Beauty” Jan. 21 and 22 at the Valdosta High School Performing Arts Center.

There is a scheduled performance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and a matinee Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

The performance is directed by Jacque Wheeler, professor in the theatre and dance department, and Brandi Cunningham Roberts, artistic director at The Valdosta School of Ballet. Alongside Roberts, assistant director Brooke Butler and Gaye George an instructor at the School of Ballet helped choreograph the ballet.

Last year, the school performed the ballet at the VHS Performing Arts Center, and “Valdosta Scene”, a local magazine covered the event.

“Audiences loved the Valdosta School of Ballet and VSU Theatre and Dance’s creation,” “Valdosta Scene” said.

All proceeds from the performance benefit the VSU Theatre/Dance Scholarship Fund, and over the past six years, the school has raised over $30,000 in scholarship money.

Advanced ticket prices can be bought at City Market, Girardin Jewelers, Steel’s Jewelry, The Scoop, or by calling the studio at 229-247-9966.

The price is $10 for adults and $8 for children, VSU students with student IDs and senior citizens.

At the door prices are $12 for adults and $10 for children, VSU students and senior citizens.
