Giveback with Ruby Tuesday

Ruby Tuesday united with American Red Cross for its first Community Giveback Program event on Feb. 8 to 10.

“Our goal is to raise money for the Red Cross,” Chuck Millsap, the restaurant manager, said.

“All people have to do is come in and eat and request your 20 percent of your bill be donated to the Red Cross.”

Valdosta found out about the event through Taylor Asbury, intern at the South Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross.

“I believe this event is very positive,” she said. ”It allows students and members of the community to donate to a charitable organization while enjoying a great meal.”

When asked if she hoped to see more events like this from Ruby Tuesday, Asbury was positive.

“I hope to see them team up with other nonprofit organizations and maybe even some campus organizations to help get the community involved in a positive way and give back,” she said.

Millsap believed the restaurant had received positive feedback

“It’s created a nice image for us, as well as the Red Cross, they have become a little forgotten, it’s a good opportunity for us both.

Ruby Tuesday also plans to take part in a fundraiser with Valdosta State’s NAACP, as well as the athletic department.
The event will continue to be a monthly event, for three days at a time.
