The latest reports from the National Association of Colleges and Employers anticipate that employers will seek 13 percent more employees from the Class of 2013 than they hired from the Class of 2012.

“While employers are seeking graduates from a broad range of disciplines, this fall they expressed particular interest in hiring new graduates with business, computer science, and engineering-related degrees and are looking to college campuses to supply their hiring needs,” Marilyn Mackes, NACE executive director, said in a Sept. 2012 press release.

Not only will employers be looking to hire more graduates, they will be paying us more, too. NACE’s January “2013 Salary Survey” shows a 3.4 percent increase in average starting salary for graduates with bachelor’s degrees.

A Jan. 10 press release sent from the organization reads, “[This report] found that the overall increase has carried the average starting salary for 2012 college graduates earning bachelor’s degrees to $44,455, outpacing the 2011 average salary of $42,987.”

Official numbers on starting salaries for the Class of 2013 will be available in NACE’s next “Salary Survey,” which will be released in April. So, where exactly are all these employers?

According to the January “Salary Survey,” the indutries that hired the most graduates from the Class of 2012 were Educational Services; Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; Healthcare and Social Assistance; Federal, State, and Local Government; and Finance and Insurance.
