Outback Steakhouse Restaurant Review

Written by Lloydrica Hudson, Staff Reporter.

A hidden gem off Saint Augustine Road is a perfect way to describe Outback Steakhouse of Valdosta, Georgia.

A delightful greeting from the hostess Trish met with a smile and introduction to my table. She suggested the Blooming Onion, a must when dining in at any Outback.

The Blooming Onion is greasy, small, and feeds about two people. The price is $10.99. However, you can receive this for free, if you sign up for their dine rewards program before your visit.

My server Erik was very attentive and suggested that I try the Alice Springs chicken. The Alice Springs chicken is a grilled piece of chicken topped with sauteed mushrooms, crispy bacon, Monterey jack cheese, and honey mustard. This entree comes with two sides and is priced at $20.99.

There are various drinks as well featured on their menu. Feeling sweet? The Berry Passion Tini is hand-crafted with vodka, passion fruit rum and pineapple juice; garnished with strawberries. On the safe side, the Koala Punch is a menu favorite and available year-round. It has watermelon, mango, citrus mix, and sprite. It also comes with a koala bear keepsake.

On a scale of 1-10, the Alice springs chicken is a seven. The chicken was slightly overcooked, but the melted cheese and honey mustard added a nice touch to the overall taste.

There is a plethora of sides to choose from. The house salad and mashed potatoes looked appetizing.

Mickal Delgotti is a manager at the local Outback.

“Outback makes our meals from scratch; from the cutting of fresh fruit and vegetables to making butter and the dressings from scratch,” said Delgotti.

Delgotti also suggested that I finish my meal with the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under.

For dessert, the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under is a warm freshly baked pecan brownie with vanilla ice cream. A generous amount of chocolate syrup is drizzled on top as well as chocolate shavings and whipped cream; perfect for your sweet tooth. This dessert is priced at $10.79.

Although this was a nice dessert, there is an overload of chocolate that can be left off. It is sweet enough to make your teeth hurt.

Overall, Outback Steakhouse delivers a lively dining experience with Australian-inspired dishes. Although it may be a little pricey.
