VALDOSTA, Ga. – The VSU Student Government Association (SGA) convened Monday evening in the Student Union Ballroom C to discuss upcoming events, budget allocations and key student initiatives.

SGA President William Burnett led the meeting, showing the organization’s continued efforts to pass resolutions and maintain student engagement.

“My predecessor motivated me to do more and keep the great stuff going that he had,” Burnett said.

Having been involved since his freshman year, Burnett now prioritizes increasing the number of resolutions passed, following last year’s focus on student engagement.

Among the topics discussed were budget planning, upcoming events such as the “Burning Bright/Night on Fire” celebration and initiatives like “Coffee with a Cop,” scheduled for March.10 in Converse Square. The organization also reviewed student engagement efforts, including a Women’s History Month event on March.11 and a “Brain Dump” study session on March.12.

Jabri Nash, a junior and first-year SGA member, spoke positively about the organization’s atmosphere.

“Everyone is really nice and positive,” Nash said. “From today’s meeting, I expect productiveness and hard work as always.”

Treasurer Horner addressed budget updates and upcoming equipment purchases, while legislative reports included updates on campus safety and parking concerns.

The meeting concluded with discussions on several resolutions, including 25-01, 25-02, 25-03, and 25-04 before adjourning. SGA members remain committed to their role in representing and assisting the student body.
