Mello offers Remerton alternative

One of the newest additions to Valdosta’s night life is Mello, a college bar, recently opened in the College Station Shoppe on Baytree road.

Mello  is a short walking distance from VSU’s campus and has a kitchen connected to the bar,  which offers a variety of food from fried mushrooms, to burgers, hot dogs, and onion rings.

“I heard it’s a nice chill spot,” Damazio Odusanya said, a junior biology major.

Mello is open from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and closes at midnight on Sundays.

The bar is also equipped with pool tables, a dart machine, and offers karaoke on Monday nights.

Live music is provided by DJ Karlos, one of Valdosta’s premier DJs , two to three nights a week.

“It’s a relaxed smoke free atmosphere,” Doug Stubbs, a manager at Mello, said.  “There are also cheap drinks and good music.”

A deck will soon be added in front of Mello.

More parking is being added in College Station Shoppes.

“It’s a great Remerton alternative,” Stubbs said.
