VSU volleyball won all six sets during its weekend trip to Tennessee, sweeping Christian Brothers and Union to improve to 11-8 overall and 5-2 in GSC play.
The Blazers opened the weekend with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-20 win over Christian Brothers on Friday, Oct. 2, in Memphis.
Eva LaRochelle led VSU with 14 kills, while Madie Kilmer added 13 and hit .385. Maddie Goodwin finished with nine kills.
Avery Mullins recorded 35 assists, 13 digs and two service aces. Eimy Negron Domenech led the defense with 20 digs and added two aces.
VSU finished with 54 kills, 70 digs and six aces. The Blazers hit .285 while holding Christian Brothers to a .174 hitting percentage.
VSU followed with a 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 win over Union on Saturday, Oct. 3, in Jackson.
LaRochelle again led the offense, finishing with 13 kills and six digs. Goodwin added six kills, while Kilmer recorded five kills and four blocks. Paola Aviles also contributed four blocks, including two solo blocks.
Mullins finished with 29 assists and nine digs. Addison Cooley led VSU with 13 digs, while Negron Domenech added nine.
The Blazers totaled 33 kills, eight blocks and 55 digs, holding Union to a .017 hitting percentage.
VSU returns home to face Montevallo at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at The Complex. The match will recognize breast cancer awareness.
Montevallo leads the all-time series 11-3 and has won the last two meetings. VSU lost the teams’ most recent matchup in five sets on Oct. 31, 2025.
The Blazers will look to build on their weekend defensive performance and earn a third consecutive conference win.
