VSU moved to 5-9 on Wednesday night when they won against Albany State.
With a 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-9, 25-12), VSU’s Irene Hannan served 11 straight points in the first set.
Ruthie King and Hannan had 22 kills total, 11 each, in the match. Emelia Saulter and Hannan each had nine digs. King led the team in digs with 10.
Saulter and Hope Ripsam combined for 33 assists; Saulter led the team with 18.
Albany State was outdone in blocks when VSU took over, 6-3. Another key player was Arielle Parnell, who led VSU with two solo blocks and three assists.
The VSU defense showed skills against the Golden Rams, who averaged -.031percentage in attacking.
The Blazers will continue the conference on the road against their rival, West Georgia, on Friday.
