When it comes to this time of year, movies that will leave you spooked and feeling festive are perfect for this Halloween season. Here are ten movies that will get you into the Halloween spirit.
Starting with a classic that you cannot beat is “Hocus Pocus” (1993). This spooky classic is a Halloween comedy that tells the story of a teenager who explores an abandoned house and unleashes three witches who lived in the house years ago.
Next up is a horror film from the 1970s that consists of 12 sequels, “Halloween” (1978). This film features the scary icon, Michael Myers, who escaped from an asylum after being locked up for murdering his sister the night of Halloween.
This next film is a Disney Halloween movie classic that was released in 1998. “Halloweentown” is about a grandmother who is trying to save Halloweentown from a dark evil with the help from her grandchildren.
The fourth film kicked off 2024’s spooky season and is a sequel of its original, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” (2024). This film is one of Tim Burton’s many hit films that highlights fantasy and gothic horror.
This next film is a must-see staple for Halloween and was developed from the original television show, “The Addams Family” (1991). In this wicked comedy, an eccentric family has suspicions of a long-lost family member who shows up to their family home, but they soon find out he is not who he appears to be.
Coming in as number six, “Scream” (1996) that later became the first of seven sequels, is a legendary Halloween movie that will have you laughing and jumping out of your seat.
“The Nightmare Before Christmas” is another one of Tim Burton’s Halloween masterpieces. This film was released over 30 years ago but is still a timeless movie that can be watched around Halloween and Christmas.
“A Quiet Place: Day One” (2024) is a film that was released June of this year that stars Lupita Nyong’o as she tries to find a way to safety after an alien invasion on New York City while remaining silent.
This next movie is a horror movie tale that adapted from Stephen King’s 1986 novel, “IT” (2017). This film is about a mysterious shape-shifting creature named Pennywise that appears every twenty-seven years to prey on children.
The final movie that is a must see this Halloween is “I Saw the TV Glow” (2024). This horror film features a supernatural late-night television show that is introduced to a teenager by his classmate. The mysterious show begins to turn the teenager’s whole life upside down.
