Sept. 1 Blaze will be celebrating his 10th birthday. VSU has many events planned for this special day commemorating Blaze’s decade of service.
Blaze contributes to the spirit of VSU. He cheered VSU during the National Championship win in 2007, which later led to ESPN deeming Valdosta “Title Town USA.”
In the past 10 years, Blaze has seen many accomplishments made by the VSU athletic program. The list varies from the Tennis team winning the national championship in 2006 to the baseball team winning the Gulf South conference title in 2008.
Blaze brings great energy to all of the athletic events he attends.
“Blaze is fired up for every game he is at which in turn gets us fans fired up and this helps the team perform well against their opponents,” sophomore Brayden Martin said.
Blaze will enjoy an entire week of celebration ending in the first football game of the season on Sept. 4.
“I am looking forward to this week of events; Blaze deserves this. He is always there for us when we need a pick-me-up if we are down,” red-shirt freshman defensive tackle Hunter Chumley said.
Sophomore Daniel Kramer said, “Blaze’s passion for sports is contagious. Just being around his intensity gets me yelling at the top of my lungs, he is a truly passionate person that deserves a great birthday celebration.”
The events include:
Monday and Tuesday, Blaze will be at a campus dining location for a specific length of time. While he’s there, people will receive a special prize for hanging out with Blaze. Look for Blaze’s birthday balloons.
Wednesday, Blaze’s Birthday Bash will be from 3-4:30 in the Student Union. A pep band will play and the cheerleaders/Red Hots will perform. There will be Blaze trading cards and Blaze will sign autographs. Participants can have birthday cake, balloons, candy and other prizes, as well as participate in various games according to the event’s press release.
