New editors join Spectator staff

With the start of a new semester, the Spectator is proud to welcome new editors to it’s extensive editorial staff.

Desiree Thompson, 21, will take over the Managing Editor position, effective Thursday, Jan. 27.

She replaces Ed Hooper, who stepped down from the position after being named the radio voice of VSU Baseball for this upcoming season.

“I am so excited,” Thompson said. “I am honored that our editor, Amy (Johstono), thought of me for the position and it is true that all hard work pays off.”

Thompson served as a Copy Editor and Assistant Managing Editor during the fall of 2010.

“Desiree has been nothing but an asset to the Spectator,” Hooper said. “She will do a phenomenal job.”

Cullen Hough, 21, has taken over as Photo Editor, after former editor Jessica Green graduated in December.

Hough was promoted from his previous position as a Copy Editor.

“I am very eager to see the impact that Desiree and Cullen will make on our staff,” Johstono said. “The two are highly qualified for their positions, and will help in the development of the writers on our staff.”
