The case of rape that was reported on Feb. 20 is still under investigation, said Major Ann Farmer of the Valdosta State University Police Department.
A VSU student reported around 5 a.m. “that she was forced to have sexual intercourse against her will,” according to the VSUPD’s incident report.
The incident report also indicates that the victim knew the offender.
According to the VSUPD Media Log, officers responded to South Georgia Medical Center and to Hopper Hall.
VSUPD was not willing to provide any information on this case because the case is currently under investigation.
To obtain the report of this incident, The Spectator was required to issue Open Records requests in accordance with Georgia Open Record laws.
Since 2009, there have been three rapes reported to the VSUPD including the one on Feb. 20.
According to crime statistics on the VSUPD website, there have been 15 forcible sex offenses on campus in the past five years, with three occurring in 2010.
Some of these have been reported to the counseling center and not to VSUPD.
