PopAddict: Death, divorce, love in Hollyweird

What’s popping, pop addicts!? Did you miss me any? Don’t answer that!

If you haven’t heard a lot of drama since the last time we talked, then you obviously haven’t been tuned in to any media outlets. I don’t know what I’m more excited about.

So how about I fill you in on the excitement of last week. Where to start? Oh, I know—with poor little Jackie Chan, who just couldn’t seem to shake death on twitter. I don’t know why twitter was trying to bury the martial arts genius, but it seemed like every ten minutes a new R.I.P. tweet appeared for the drunken master.

While social networking sites pushed Jackie Chan towards the grave, discussion of the freak accident that happened Aug. 13 in Indiana’s State Fair refused to die. Five people were reported dead and about 45 more were injured after gusty winds from an approaching storm caused the stage to collapse before the popular country group Sugarland could perform.

The horrible accident left not only the performers shocked but also anyone who watched the clip still circulating around on the internet.

Enough of the sad and the serious and on to lighter news—Hollyweird’s newlyweds and divorces! Who was tuned into the Kardashians this weekend to get a good look at how Kim and Kris Humphries got along before the B-I-G wedding that happened this past weekend?

I know I did and, of course, I have too much to say about the Ogre (he reminds me of Shrek) that only managed to snag Kim because she was too desperate for her 2nd proposal. The wedding, airing on E! in October, is set to make the couple an estimate of $17.9 million—yes; I said $17.9 mil—and was practically free for the couple. Here’s a list of just a few things Kimmy Cakes and her Nets Ogre got for the low:

Payments they received
* $15 million plus profit for four-hour, two-part wedding special on E!
* $2.5 million for exclusive photos with People magazine
* $300,000 for exclusive engagement announcement with People
* $50,000 to have bachelorette party at Tao in Las Vegas

Stuff they got for free
* $15,000 to $20,000 Hansen’s Bakery wedding cake
* $20,000 Vera Wang wedding dress and fittings
* $40,000 for two more Vera Wang evening dresses
* $400,000 in Perrier Jouet Champagne
* $150,000 in hair and makeup for photo shoots and TV “home video”
* $10,000 in Lehr & Black wedding invitations

Deeply discounted
* $2 million 20.5-carat engagement ring and $1 million wedding bands by jeweler Lorraine Schwartz.

Crazy stuff, huh? You go, Kim, with your bad self! Looks like I’m tuning in for the airing.

While Kim and Shrek prepare to become newlyweds, J.Lo and Marc “Skeletor” Anthony finally decided to stop the front and call it quits, giving Vanity Fair a little inside scoop.

For what it’s worth, neither Skeletor nor J.Lo is taking it as bad as we all thought they would. The pair is actually being mature about the situation, possibly for the sake of their twins, but one thing in the article was clear. Neither of them had time for the other and when they did, they didn’t want to spend it with each other.

At least J.Lo got her album Love?, which dropped in May (for those who didn’t know she was back) to vent. Oh, and Skeletor has the TNT drama Hawthorne, but I heard that he was dropped after this season.

Well, I have more to say but why spill everything today when next Thursday is right around the corner! Be on the lookout for Lil Wayne’s new album (dropping digitally right after the VMAs on Sunday)—I’ll be sure to review it for you and don’t miss out on the latest gossip and celeb news. Stay true and keep those grades up to get out of school!
