It might be a different kind of final for VSU golf players John Fordham and Chris Rogers they represent the Blazers at the South/Southeast Super Region tournament on May 4-6 at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club’s south course.

Fordham and Rogers have been invited to compete against some of the best players from around the Super Region for a spot in the NCAA Championship Tournament in Dade City, Florida.

“They’ve got just as good of a chance to win as anyone else does,” Coach Purvis said. “If they can cut out the little errors and put together three solid rounds of golf, they can definitely move on.”

The last time the Blazer Golf Team saw action was at the Gulf South Conference Championship on April 20 and 21. It has been a long season for the team, but Coach Purvis said that the team has been on a steady incline since the new year, and they were happy to be able to contend as well as they did in the GSC tournament. The team wound up finishing tied for fifth place in their last regular season team tournament.

“I’m really happy with the improvement we’ve made. We’ve cut out a lot of the weaker parts of our game, and I think we’re in a really good place now,” Purvis said.
