On Saturday, Aug. 31st, musical composer Jorge Rivera-Herrans’ EP passed Travis Scott’s album, “DAYS BEFORE RODEO” and Sabrina Carpenter’s album, “Short n’ Sweet” on iTunes. 

The musical, which is called, “EPIC: The Wisdom Saga,” adheres to the story of The Odyssey from the beginning to the end. The concept album began with Rivera-Herrans’ first EP in 2022, “EPIC: The Troy Saga”. 

Rivera-Herrans is a composer, playwright, actor, and lyricist who is determined to tell a story through his work. His dedication to tell the story of The Odyssey began in 2019 as a senior thesis project, and now in 2024 it is close to completion as a concept album.  

The composer has sought help from his community to gather musically inclined individuals to assist with the creation of the project, as well as the concept design aspect. The individuals who assisted with the project are all up-and-coming artists and composers. 

Currently, the composer is phasing legal issues regarding the original recording of the first two EPs that were released. The man who initially released the two EPs stole the accounts from Rivera-Herrans’ and now he is refusing to reimburse him. The EPs have been reimagined due to this legal issue. 

The EP, “EPIC: The Wisdom Saga” reached number one on iTunes as a soundtrack within the first four hours of release. 

With three out of the five songs that are on the EP reaching the YouTube trending page, the EP has also been featured on Spotify’s “up-and-coming” playlists. Despite not having a play on Broadway, the EP has also made its appearance on Broadway’s “hits” playlist. 

As of yesterday, the newly released EP passed 10 million streams in less than four days. To announce the celebratory news, Rivera-Herrans shared a video on X (Twitter) that displayed the counts of the streams as it hit 10 million streams with an audio of one of his songs.  

Today, Rivera-Herrans shared a post on X (Twitter) that made his followers aware that four of the songs from the EP are on the “top songs” Spotify list that is debuted in the U.S: as well as two of the songs being featured on the top songs lists for “Debut Global” on Spotify. The video also included four of his songs of the top songs list in the United Kingdom. 

The composer expressed his gratitude to his followers on X (Twitter), stating, “I AM FOREVER THANKFUL FOR YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT. I LOVE YOU ALL #epicthewisdomsaga #epicthemusical,” said Herran. 

Rivera-Herrans’ has certainly made history as an up-and-coming composer and has shown his passion for storytelling through musicals.
