Cherie’s Picks Week of 10/28

Welcome to Cherie’s Picks, the spooky edition! I am so glad you decided to drop in. As usual, I have a list of upcoming events on campus with organizations that would love for you to accompany them! Without further ado, here are the events for the week of Oct. 28.

To start the week off, on Monday, Oct. 28 from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m., Beta Alpha Psi is hosting “Halloween Treat Bags” in HSBA 3050. This is a community service event by BAP in collaboration with Carr, Riggs, & Ingram. Employees of the accounting firm as well as students of VSU will create Halloween themed treat bags that will be donated to the Valdosta Housing Authority.

Also, Monday happens to be the last day of Campus Recreation’s “Haunted House” at the Student Rec Center. Remember, ticket sales start at 7 p.m. at $10 per ticket, and they are offering 50% off the price if you bring a non-perishable food item to donate. Start Halloween week off right with a Blazer fright!

On Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., the Office of Student Success and Retention will be holding a workshop “Blaze: Don’t Burn Out” in Odum Library, room 2633. This event will be helpful in learning tips and tricks to help you continue through the rest of this semester. If you are having trouble finding motivation and getting back into the swing of things, I recommend attending this event!

Now on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., SGA is hosting “Blazing Boo Bash” on the Front Lawn. They are promoting this event as a smaller version of the Happening, but Halloween themed. In addition to candy, organizations and businesses will also be giving out hurricane relief items.

On Thursday, Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m., Odum Library is hosting “Nature Journaling with Odum Library: Halloween and All Things Fall edition” located behind the reference desk. At this event, be prepared to get creative and engage in conversations about all thing’s nature journaling. With art supplies and journals provided, this could be a great place to begin or continue with this hobby!

This brings us to the end of this spooky edition. I hope you have the opportunity to stop by any of these and show your Blazer pride. Be sure to stop by Cherie’s Corner each Saturday to explore the upcoming events on campus. Thank you for checking out Cherie’s Picks, and I’ll see you next week!
