The thought of voting can be stressful, and finding places to cast votes can be a challenge for college students. Here are the voting locations available on-campus and around the city of Valdosta.
There has been talk of a polling location here on-campus and fortunately, VSU does in fact have a voting location for students and citizens of Valdosta to use. It is located in the President’s Ballroom in the University Center, entrance two.
Supervisor of Elections in Lowndes County, Deb Cox, is hoping that there will be some college voters taking advantage of the location.
“Been there for several years[polling]with no voters,” said Cox. “We are hoping some will vote this time!”
The voting location will open on election day, Nov. 5 at 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Before 5 p.m., the polling will only be open for registered voters who live on-campus. After 5 p.m., anyone within the area can vote.
Another voting location available for students is at the Lowndes County Board-Election office, located at 2808 North Oak Street. The office is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. for early voting and for general information about the election.
Students who are registered to vote but could not return home to vote in-person also had the chance to send in their ballots by requesting an absentee ballot before Oct. 25. Completed and signed absentee ballots must be received by Nov. 5 either through mail or at a local election office.
Students have multiple ways to participate in voting for the upcoming election. Students residing on-campus can stop by the University Center on election day to cast their votes or stop by the Board of Elections office on election day or for early voting until Nov.1.
