Cherie’s Picks Week of 11/18

Welcome to Cherie’s Picks! I am so glad you decided to drop in. As usual, I have a list of upcoming events on campus with organizations that would love for you to accompany them! Without further ado, here are the events for the week of Nov. 18.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19 starting at 6:30 p.m., the English Department is hosting a “Publication Launch and Trivia Night”. This will take place in the Student Union in Meeting Room 2. With root beer floats and other assorted treats provided, we are invited to learn all about the English Department’s star publications: Odradek, Omnino and the Spectator. In addition to the sweet treats, the winners of the trivia competition will also be rewarded with prizes.

On Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m., CAB is hosting “DIY Day 2” located in the Student Union Rotunda. Whether you attended last week or not, there are new craft sets for this week including spices/seasonings, intention bracelets and Valdosta State puzzles. Stop by for a bit of fun while supplies last!

On Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., SGA is hosting “Sunset Serenity Yoga” on Nevins Front Lawn. SGA senators will be leading yoga as well as meditation time for anyone interested. To enhance this time, there will be blankets and pillows, water and a snack tray provided.

Finally on Friday, Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Blazer Pantry will be hosting another “Free Food Friday.” To help from losses due to Hurricane Helene, the Blazer Pantry & Closet will be giving out free food and essentials to VSU staff and students. This is also a community service opportunity worth three service hours for assisting.

This brings us to the end of another edition of Cherie’s Picks. I hope you have the opportunity to stop by any of these and show your Blazer pride. Be sure to stop by Cherie’s Corner each Saturday to explore the upcoming events on campus. Thank you for checking out Cherie’s Picks and I’ll see you next week!
