The Theta Tau chapter of Delta Sigma Theta are pioneers at Valdosta State University. The Deltas were the first sorority to step foot on Valdosta State’s campus. These women are also a part of the NPHC, the National Pan-Hellenic Council. They aim to serve the local community as well as the campus. Throughout the campus, these ladies in red have been seen helping their fellow peers by holding forums to educate students on politics, health, education, community service and social life.
They have brains and the power of sisterhood to back it all up. In this sorority, the women that choose to be in it need to have a 3.0 GPA. These Devasting Divas, as they call themselves, are a non-profit Christian based organizations who pride themselves on scholarship, service, and sisterhood. Danielle White, current president of the Theta Tau chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, feels that of these three attributes, sisterhood is what makes them different from the other sororities.
“We are all very close, as though we were real sisters. I know I can always depend on my sisters, no matter what I need,” she said.
Delta Sigma Theta has a lot of upcoming events. The events include “Movie Night with the Deltas” at 7:13 p.m. in the library auditorium on September 20th. On the 23rd of September they will host “Sister to Sister Chit Chat” at 7:13 p.m. in Powell Hall. The last event of this month will be the “Political Demonstration,” which will be held in the UC Rose Room on September 30th at 7:13 p.m. They also have a Krispy Kreme donut fund-raiser going on to raise money for their scholarship fund for local high school students. Be sure to watch out for what they have in store for Valdosta State University.
