The Valdosta State Blazers and Lady Blazers basketball teams are set to begin their 2009-2010 seasons this upcoming week.
The Lady Blazers will begin on Sunday afternoon when they take on Lander at 2 p.m. in the P.E. Complex. The Men will begin on Monday when they take on Carver Bible following the Lady Blazers game on Monday against Edward Waters.
The Men are ranked #7 in the pre-season poll and are picked to win the Gulf South Conference while the Ladies just missed out of the Top 25 and are picked to win the GSC Eastern Division. Both teams will play 14 non-conference games before both open up their Gulf South Conference play on Jan. 7 when they travel to Florence Alabama to take on the North Alabama Lions.
The teams will face a tough part of the schedule in February when they go from February 6th to Feb. 27 without a home game.
The Gulf South Conference tournament will begin on March 3 and will end on March 7 while the NCAA South Regional tournament will begin on March 13 and will end on March 16.
