DIY Halloween Costumes

Halloween is getting close and it is about time to find that perfect costume.

There are costumes being sold all around town and on the Internet, but they are usually very expensive.

On the other hand, there are plenty of costumes that can be made from things around the house; costing you little to no money at all.

A very popular and easy costume to make for women is a devil. Several stores have the devil horns and tail for around $6. Throw on a red dress and some high heels and you have a sinfully snazzy devil outfit.

A cheap costume that men can appreciate is a stereotypical geek. All you need is a short sleeve button-up shirt with a front pocket, suspenders, dress pants, dress shoes, fake glasses and pens; normally, most of these items men already have, but you can find fake glasses at your local convenience store for around $4 or $5. With this costume, being a geek never seemed so easy.

One of the more fun costume choices for women is the cute school girl. To complete this look, grab a pleated plaid skirt, knee-high socks and a white button-up shirt. If you really want to add some flair use a tie, fake glasses, and put your hair in pigtails. This costume is cute, simple and it is sure to make all the guys want to carry your school books.

Yet another super easy outfit that the men can enjoy is a mime. The only things necessary for this costume are white face paint, a black-and-white striped shirt, black pants, and black dress shoes. Face paint can be found at local convenience stores and should only cost around $5 or $6. This costume is so simple and fun it speaks for itself; you won’t have to say a word.

If all else fails you can dress up as a king or queen of Roman times. There is nothing simpler than making a toga for a costume; all you need is a white sheet. Just cut and tightly wrap the sheet around until you feel and look like a Greek god or goddess. To go the extra mile, you can add strap sandals to complete the look. This easy and inexpensive costume will make the king of the gods jealous.

These are just a few ideas for Halloween costumes, but there are so many different options.   The best way to find ideas for a homemade costume is to start in your closet.

Think of the things that you hardly ever wear, and imagine what era they originated from.

When you find out what you have, you’re on the way to creating an amazing Halloween costume.
