Been Jammin’

During the school’s 100 years of operation, Valdosta State University has educated thousands of students. In that time, plenty have gone on to become successful adults. Alumni Benjamin Williams (“Been Jammin’”), from Boston, Georgia, is on his way to making a name for himself in the art of entertainment.

“Ever since I was young I always had a love for music,” Williams said. “Not only the sounds, but music as an expression.”

Williams’ love for music has taken him far. He currently has 5 songs of which have been played on the radio.

Williams graduated from VSU with a BA in Sociology, and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

“My time at VSU was great,” Williams said. “It shaped my focus on life and still affects my path ‘til this day.”

Been Jammin’ was also recently casted for his first acting role, as King of the Werewolves in a new film, “Battle of the Cursed: the Two Kings.”

The film is set to be released in October by 3x National Award Winning Valdosta-based indie film company, Doug Sebastian Productions (DSP).

“Battle of the Cursed: the Two Kings” takes place during a war between werewolves and vampires headed by the werewolf king, Benjamin, and vampire king, Ezekiel.

The film, which is being shot all over the city of Valdosta, is being directed by Doug Sebastian and Roy Kirkland.

“There were two individuals who were given this role during the casting process but neither worked out for what I was looking for,” Roy Kirkland, writer, cast director and actor, said. “Shortly after the second individual was dismissed, I had a photo-shoot with Ben who was actually cast as an extra. When he got into costume his look was very appealing.”

“The opportunity sort of fell in my lap and I had to take advantage,” Williams said. “Ever since I could walk I was always told that I am a ‘character.’ I was always interested in acting. Music and a little bit of luck made it possible for me.”

“It occurred to me to ask if he would like to read for the King of the Werewolves,” Kirkland said. “He did and was superb. You will agree that I made the right decision when you see him act for the first time in front of a camera. Impressive.”

“I had an opportunity to incorporate my music talents and write a song for the movie! The song is called ‘Party Animal’,” Williams said.

“I am also currently working on my new CD called ‘iBEEN JAMMIN’ where the song ‘Party Animal’ will be featured,” Williams said.

Williams’ album will be released within the next month, for free, as a gift to his friends and fans—an actual release date will be announced in the near future.
