Saturday, Blazer red will fade to pink.
Zeta Tau Alpha is partnering with VSU’s athletic department and Southern OB/GYN to host the fourth annual pink out football game to raise breast cancer awareness.
The game is against South Arkansas at 7 p.m. at the Blazemore-Hyder Stadium.
To raise Breast Cancer awareness, ZTA wants the entire stadium “pinked out.”
Everyone attending will be encouraged to wear pink in order to get the message across.
“With a rate of one in every eight women developing breast cancer, almost everyone knows someone that has been diagnosed with this cancer,” Shaheen Gilani, ZTA co-chair of this year’s football game, said. “We hope to continue to raise awareness about the importance of early detection through self-examinations, annual check-ups and regular mammograms.”
ZTA will give out free pink ribbons for everyone in the game, along with other prizes such as pink footballs.
There will also be pink shirts, cups, and koozies available for sale.
The crowd can also look forward to the pink glove dance.
During the game, the women from Southern OB/GYN will do a dance that the audience can get involved in. Southern OB/GYN will also accept donations during the game.
ZTA hopes to attract a large crowd, including parents, students, and faculty members, so that everyone can be involved in making a difference, whether it’s by giving a donation or simply by showing up in pink to support the cause.
Admission for all VSU students and military personal is free. General admission will be $10.
