Diversity Days celebration

The office of Social Equity is inviting all units of the VSU campus to participate in the campus-wide celebration of Diversity Days that will extend the entire month of March.

According to Mrs. Maggie Viverette, Director of the Office of Social Equity at VSU, her office is devoted to aiding the campus community in creating an environment that is welcoming and supportive of all members of the campus community.

“The VSU community is a very diverse community and creating a supportive environment in which all members of the community feel valued for their contributions is important,” said Viverette.

One of the major ways the Office of Social Equity works towards this goal is through the Diversity Days Celebration.

According to Viverette, The goal of the Diversity Days Celebration is to shed light on the diversity that exists on campus and provide students with opportunities to exchange information about the numerous dimensions of diversity.

The celebration, which was founded several years ago, originally took the form of a single week but has recently been expanded to a full month dedicated to activities and events that contribute to the cause of embracing campus-wide diversity.

In order to help make our Diversity Days Celebration at VSU the best it can be, The Office of Social Equity is encouraging student organizations and departments to identify an activity to host anytime
during the month of March.

“We are still in the planning stages and hope through the combined effort of all the campus units and organizations to have a celebration that provides opportunities to engage individuals in a meaningful manner,” Viverette said.
