The VSU women’s tennis team faces its most competition yet this season in the next few days.
With a win on Sunday against West Alabama, the Blazers are preparing for three non-conference teams: No.4 Lynn University, No.5 Barry University, and No.7 Columbus State University, who are all among the top 10 in the nation.
The Lady Blazers are set for prime-time competition.
“They are tops in the nation. I’m ready for the matches,” Jessica Tuggle, junior tennis player, said.
Tuggle continues to help her doubles partner, freshman Jennifer Rink feel better about the upcoming matches.
“I’m confident. We have had a lot of good matches together. We have great chemistry and it makes our team strong,” Rink said.
The duo plans to treat these next opponents like any other.
“It’s better not to think who is better, it’s just another match,” Rink said. “We can not be afraid we must believe in ourselves.”
Fellow tennis player Julianna Boehm was sidelined after she twisted her knee in the last match against UWA.
Despite the injury, she ensures she will still be able to play.
“It will be tough, but we are having pretty good season. I am excited,” Tuggle said.
LU comes to town on Friday (2 p.m.). Following, the Lady Blazers face BU on Saturday (2 p.m.). After a two-day rest, VSU comes back to play CSU on Tuesday.
