Campus Rec brings Battleship to life

Written by: Abbie Baggerly

Whoever thought the words “battle” and “fundraiser” could be used together? Leave it to Campus Rec to come up with a way to combine the two.

Campus Rec is offering Canoe Battleship next Thursday from 7-11 p.m. at the SRC pool.

The game will work just like the traditional board game but with actual water and boats.

Each team will be given their own canoe. The players will be equipped with a bucket and kick boards that will give them the chance to sink their opponent’s canoe.

“This will be the most fun you have ever had,” Eddie St-Vil, Campus Rec graduate assistant, said.

Proceeds from the night’s battles will help benefit the Special Olympics of Georgia. Participants and spectators are also encouraged to bring canned foods to be donated to the VSU Food Bank.

All participants must wear pool attire. No tennis shoes or jeans are allowed, but costumes are encouraged.

The first Canoe Battleship tournament took place at VSU two years ago and turned out to be a great success.

All interested participants need to register online at IMLeagues.com by Tuesday. Registration is $10 if done online and $15 if done on the night of the event. Up to 16 teams can participate.
