There have been many highly acclaimed scream queens throughout the years. Neve Cambell, Sigourney Weaver, Jaime Lee Curtis will always be known for their classic portrayals….They all share many things in common, but the main similarity? They’re all bloody amazing at making us scream. So in honor of FOX’s Scream Queens, we take a look at the top scream queens of the past decade.
Vera Farmiga
This New Jersey native has ventured through every movie genre under the sun, however it wasn’t until she starred in the 2009 film Orphan that she emerged as the top go to scream queen in the business. From movies like Orphan, The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, Farmiga has become a main stay in the horror world. So much so that she was cast as the lead Norma Bates in Bates Motel. Chloë Grace Moretz
This teen starlet has been all over the place since her portrayal of Chelsea Lutz in the 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror. Since then, she has been in horror flicks The Eye, Dark Shadows and Let the Right One In to name a few. She has perfected the angsty child horror cliché to a tee. Her most recent hit was the 2013 remake of the cult classic Carrie, where she ended the film in a bloody, gory mess. It was perfect. (Photo Courtesy: Wikimedia)
Emma Roberts
Nepotism may have gotten Scream Queen star Emma Roberts’s foot in the door, but her talent has been what has kept her as American Horror Story producer Ryan Murphy’s main girl. She made her first appearance in her starring role hit as Addie Singer in the Nickelodeon show Unfabulous. However, it wasn’t until she was cast in the 2013 Scream remake that she truly dialed up her acting skills. Now two seasons of American Horror Story down, there doesn’t seem to be anything stopping this Scream Queen. (Photo Courtesy: Wikimedia)
Kate Beckinsale
Although this scream queen is most known for her role in the Underworld saga, she’s had her fair share of scream-tastic movies. She’s kicked butt and slayed demons in a good portion of her film career. Beckinsale even took home a Scream Queen award back in 2006. (Photo Courtesy: Wikimedia)
