The No. 21 Valdosta State football team returns home for the third round of the Division-II playoffs.

The Blazers will face No. 25 West Georgia Wolves, a Gulf South Conference opponent on Saturday at noon.

VSU tamed the wolves fairly easily in October with a commanding 40-6 home victory.

VSU had 586 offensive yards compared to UWG’s 261.

The Blazers are riding an 8-game winning streak, while the Wolves are running with a 5-game winning streak.

The Blazers defeated the University of North Alabama 33-31 two weeks ago, avenging a September loss. The Blazers continued to roll the next week against No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne with another close road victory, 23-21.

In the two victories, VSU’s “Black Swarm” defense forced seven turnovers, including three interceptions of Lenoir-Rhyne’s quarterback Miles Freeman.

The Blazers have won three straight games by only two points.

This will be the Blazers’ first home game since Oct. 25. VSU is 3-1 at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.

Hashtags are circulating on social media with #PackBazemore and #NoEmptySeats in an attempt to bring more people to the game.

If the Blazers win, they will move on to the semifinals. They would play the winner of the Ohio Dominican and Colorado State-Pueblo game.
